Edit or cancel an invoice
Correct a mistake and put the stock back where it belongs.
Mistakes happen at the counter. An invoice can be corrected after it is raised, and the stock behind it follows the correction automatically.
Who can do this
adminedit_invoiceDeleting is narrower still — super_admin or an explicit delete_invoice grant. An ordinary admin cannot delete.
Edit an invoice

Go to Invoices and find the bill. You can search by invoice number or party name.

Open it and select edit.

Change what needs changing — quantities, rates, lines, the discount.
Removing a line puts its units back into the batch they came out of. Increasing a quantity takes more out. The stock always follows.

Save. Reprint the bill if the party already has the old one.
Note
The invoice number never changes when you edit. It is the same document, corrected — which is exactly what you want when the party is holding a copy of it.
Delete an invoice
Deleting removes the invoice and returns every unit on it to stock. It is permanent, which is why almost nobody has the permission for it.
Deleting leaves a gap in your numbering
Numbers are never reissued, so a deleted invoice leaves a hole in the series that you will have to explain at filing time. Edit rather than delete whenever the invoice should have existed at all.
What happens to payments
Money already received against the party is not thrown away. When an invoice is edited or removed, the amounts it was covering are freed and settle against that party’s other open bills, oldest first. Anything with nothing left to settle is held as advance credit — see How outstanding is worked out.
When the party sends goods back
There is no credit note document in the app today. For a return, edit the invoice down to what the party actually kept, which restores the stock and reduces what they owe. If your accountant needs a credit note on paper, the free credit note generator produces one.
